Becoming a Member
Members are the life blood of The LA Fort. This is the body that moves us forward. Through our collective vision and actions, we can enable eachother to do almost anything. We are always looking for new members to grow with.
If you are interested in joining our membership, you should consider coming to one of our meetings!
New and potential members are welcome to all meetings but we suggest starting with the monthly members meeting.
All meetings start at 8.
First Monday Productions and Operations
Second Tuesday Programs and Services
Third Wednesday Members meeting/mixer
Membership is $20 per month + 10 hours per month of community involvement.
We exchange tie with eachother through our time bank at hOur World.
Members Bill of Rights
● Right to attend all Fort events.
● Right to attend all member celebration events and outings.
● Right to propose agenda items to be discussed at the coop meetings.
● Right to raise issues in public and communicate opinions in forums, conferences, and other avenues of discussion.
● Right to educational opportunities that will enable them to be responsible members who can effectively govern the Fort.
● Right to participate in all discussions that happen before all member votes
● Right to carry out self motivated projects
● All members have the right to due process if accused with an offense and if facing a reprimand or punishment.
● Right to use of space for personal projects through the work exchange program
Members Bill of Commitments
● To pay monthly dues in a timely manner.
● To make allocation decision with the best interest of the Fort and its long term health in mind.
● To attend at least one monthly membership meeting.
● To support fellow members as seen fit.
● To work minimum required time per month.
● To review materials provided as background to discussions of votes.
● To mentor new members.
● To hold The Fort in the best possible light through personal actions.
● To act with mutual respect and courteousness toward their fellow members and address issues as they arrive.
● To educate oneself about the Fort's governance structure.
● To educate oneself about the Fort's operations and business.
● To ask for help when needed or wanted.
● Our common welfare should come first; The Fort's success depends upon unity as a whole.
